I have owned my Earthway spreader for 17 years. The old gear box casing broke several years ago, but I was able to get it back together with tape and baling wire. When the shutoff plate broke I decided to go ahead and replace the broken gear box also. The new gear box looks exactly like the old broken one. I went ahead and did a preemptive fix on the new box to keep it from breaking where the old one did. Hopefully I will get another 17 years out of my reconditioned spreader.
